In the last three days we stayed in Dargaville, or to be exact, in Baylys Beach. On our way there we stopped at the largest trees in New Zealand, the Kauri trees, and did a short walk in a forest. Dargaville did not have much to offer, so we had dinner at the take-away near the apartment in Baylys Beach. We had lovely (and very cheap) fresh lamb burgers. On Tuesday morning we went on our way to Auckland, where we stayed at Ankie & Barry’s house. This was as lovely and welcoming as always. We stopped at several places along the way, including a stop at the beach, where Bas and I got completely soaked by big waves. This morning we sadly had to say goodbye, as we won’t be able to see each other in quite a while. On our way back to Taupo, we stopped in Hobbiton and enjoyed a cute and nerdy two-hour tour around the Lord of the Rings movieset. Now we are back in Taupo, staying in a hotel overviewing the lake.
And here an overload of pictures of Hobbiton!
